Apple cider vinegar has long been hailed one of the most effective weight loss methods, as it holds a number of health benefits as well as burning the pounds. Many people will no doubt be eager to try taking apple cider vinegar in a bid to lose weight, but some may not be sure which is the best way to incorporate it in to your diet. However, adding apple cider vinegar to your daily meal plans is easier than you think. There are a number of ways you can consume the fat-burning ingredient, from adding it to salads to simply drinking it.
One method to follow is the apple cider vinegar detox, which involves drinking a mixture of the vinegar regularly for a set period of time, for example a week or even a month.
After a month of indulging at Christmas, the apple cider vinegar detox will replenish your body with good bacteria for the gut, minerals, and enzymes – according to Healthline.
The basic recipe involves:
- One to two tablespoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
- Eight ounces of purified or distilled water
- One to two tablespoons of sweetener, such as organic honey, maple syrup or four drops of Stevia.
Some add lemon juice or cayenne pepper to switch up the drink to a flavour they’ll prefer.
Healthline explain many people choose to consume the drink three times a day: before breakfast, midmorning, and mid-afternoon.
Instead of doing the complete detox, other ways you can consume the liquid are to simply have two tablespoons a day, or to stir it into a glass of water and drink it before meals.
A more enjoyable way to take it would be to mix it with oil and use it as a dressing on salads.
Just two tablespoons a day have been found to help people lose nearly twice as much weight in three months compared to those who didn’t consume it.
While there is little formal research into the benefits of the detox explained above, apple cider vinegar is well known to be an effective weight loss method in general.
It can also improve digestion, protect against heart disease, and control blood sugar levels.
As vinegar can increase feelings of fullness, people often find they consume less calories which as a result leads to weight loss.
Vinegar has been shown to reduce blood sugar by 34 per cent after 50 grams of white bread have been consumed.
Two tablespoons of the vinegar at night have also been shown to reduce fasting blood sugar in the morning.
It has also been shown to improve insulin function and lower blood sugar levels after meals.
